Music Together®: mixed-ages: newborn to age 5yrs
The hallmark of the Music Together program, our Mixed-age Class gives children the environment they need to grow musically while interacting both socially and musically with peers of different ages. All children are born with natural potential for music and birth to 5 is the critical window when that potential can either be maximized or neglected. Participating in Music Together helps your family nurture the inborn potential for music your child while supporting their overall development. And we help you to bring more active music experiences into your family's daily life, enhancing your parenting and helping you build forever memories.
Child development researchers have found that grouping together children of varying ages fosters natural, family-style learning. The hallmark of the Music Together program, our Mixed-age Class gives children the environment they need to grow musically while interacting both socially and musically with peers of different ages. Younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones; and adults are happy because their children can go to class together. And any or all of your child's caregivers—parents, grandparents, nannies—can come share in the experience, both in class and at home. The whole family is welcome!-
Music Together: babies only
A born sounder and mover, your baby is already equipped with the means and potential to make music. You've probably noticed how they respond when you play a song in the car or sing them a song to soothe them. Developing your baby's natural musicality will open the door to a world of possibility, not only for music learning but for all learning. The early months are so important to this process, which is why we designed this special class to help you every step of the way.
Music Together offers a one-semester Babies Class for families with infants from birth through eight months of age. In this class, the activities are specifically designed to teach you how to support music development in infancy and how to connect with your baby through music using methods such as "purposeful touch," "sound-layering," "dancing for baby," etc. And since our Babies Class uses the same song collections as our other classes, you will experience a seamless transition as your baby grows into our mixed-age, in-school, and "Big Kids" classes.
Music Together Generations Class
In senior residential and day programs across the country, people of all ages come together to sing, dance, shake shakers, and swing scarves during weekly Music Together intergenerational classes. As the children’s music-learning is nurtured, babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and their grownups also foster new and important relationships with "Musical Grandfriends." These unique and powerful classes are also greatly enjoyed by the seniors and staff. Seniors look forward to the children's lively visits, the chance to share memories, and the sheer fun of these playful music-making experiences. The additional cognitive, physical, and emotional benefits for both children and elders make the Generations class a win-win for all participants.
